EL CARMEN DE BOLIVAR, Colombia - The government of France has offered to sell Dassault Mirage 2000-5F multirole aircraft to Colombia from French Air Force inventories.

The offer includes the sale of 18 units worth approximately $500 million, including a logistics package valued at $150 million.

According to industry sources, the aircraft are in perfect operating condition and would delivered with the Electronic Warfare (EW) modifications requested by Colombia.

In November 2013, Air Operations commander Brig. Gen. Carlos Bueno said the service is considering several modern fighters, including the Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon, Sukhoi Su-30 Flanker, Dassault Rafale, Dassault Mirage 2000, Saab JAS 39E Gripen, and IAI Kfir B60. The plan is to acquire a new fleet by 2017.
