NEWTOWN, Conn. - The ALQ-213 electronic warfare management system (EWMS) will be produced steadily over the next several years for numerous aircraft applications. In particular, the system has been revitalized by its selection to equip the U.S. navy's P-8A Poseidon aircraft. The P-8A will likely experience increasing sales worldwide as navies seek to replace their aging P-3s.
For now, the United States is the largest customer of the aircraft, with a requirement for 117 P-8As. Meanwhile, Australia and India have selected the aircraft to meet their own maritime patrol requirements, with orders for 14 and eight aircraft, respectively.
ALQ-213 is by no means limited to the P-8A. In January 2015, ALQ-213 prime contractor Terma was contracted by the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) to integrate their Modular Aircraft Survivability (MASE) pod onto the Dutch air force's NH-90 helicopters. The MASE pod includes the ALQ-213.
