NEWTOWN, Conn. - Bombardier has announced that, due to weather conditions in Mirabel, Quebec, the first flight of the initial CS300 commercial airliner will not take place on February 26, 2015, as had been planned. The company added that it does expect the flight to occur "very soon."
Bombardier had always said that the February 26 date was subject to optimal weather conditions.
The CS300 is the larger of the two CSeries variants being developed by Bombardier. The CSeries, an all-new family of commercial airliners, consists of the 108-125 passenger CS100 and the 130-160 passenger CS300. The CS100 is already in flight testing, and four CS100 flight test aircraft have accumulated more than 1,000 flight hours to date.
Bombardier has garnered 243 firm orders for CSeries aircraft (nearly three-quarters of which are for CS300s), plus other types of commitments for an additional 320 aircraft.
