NEWTOWN, Conn. - The Bombardier CS300 commercial airliner flew for the first time on February 27. The aircraft took off from Mirabel airport in Quebec just after 11:00 AM local time. The flight had been postponed from February 26 due to weather conditions.

The 130-160 passenger CS300 is one of two CSeries variants being developed by Bombardier. The other variant is the 108-125 passenger CS100. The CS100 is already in flight testing, and four CS100 flight test aircraft have accumulated more than 1,000 flight hours to date.

Bombardier has secured 243 firm orders for CSeries aircraft (nearly three-quarters of which are for CS300s), plus other types of commitments for an additional 320 aircraft.
