MANILA - Singapore could provide unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) and other military equipment to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Singapore is alarmed by the rising terrorism threat in the region.

These UAVs will perform reconnaissance and surveillance missions to support operations against Islamic militants. In May, militants from the Islamic State seized Marawi City on the southern Philippines island of Mindanao. Local security forces are still battling to regain control of the town.

During the past two months Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines launched joint maritime and air patrols.
