MEXICO CITY -- On September 18, the Mexican Navy inaugurated the Centro de Entrenamiento Avanzado de la Armada de México, an advanced training center in the municipality of Valle de Bravo. According to a statement by SEMAR, it is the largest and most modern facility of its kind in the Navy. It will be able to train up to 2,500 Marines to operate in both urban and aerial operations.

During the Inauguration Ceremony, Mr. Enrique Peña Nieto, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, was accompanied by Admiral Vidal Francisco Soberón Sanz, Secretary of the Navy, General Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda, Secretary of National Defense and Mr. Alfredo del Mazo Maza, Governor of the State of Mexico, as well as civil, naval and military authorities.

The facility is tasked with systematically preparing and training elements of Marine Infantry in a physical and mental manner for the development of operations, with the highest standards and strict respect for Human Rights, with which will allow them to achieve the success of the assigned missions.

The training center is built on 90 hectares of land and is composed of seven buildings. Facilities include a heliport, workshops, stores, a clinic, a gymnasium, vehicle shed, sports areas, canine training area, classrooms, and a shooting simulator and training center.

Mexico continues to battle violent gangs and organized crime. Training military personnel is vital in this type of combat, especially since soldiers operate in urban areas and in close proximity to innocent civilians. Being able to defeat gang members while protecting Mexico's population is of the upmost importance. The new facility will help Mexico succeed in this goal.
