NEWTOWN, Conn. - Chad's air force will soon take delivery of its second and final Alenia Aermacchi C-27J Spartan, which is currently undergoing flight tests in Italy.
The aircraft was seen landing after a test flight at Turin-Caselle Airport on August 28, according to Air Forces Daily. The first aircraft began test flying from the same airport on December 12 last year, which is the site of the Alenia Aermacchi Flight Test Centre and C-27J final assembly line.
It was announced in October 2013 that Chad's Air Force is expected to receive two new C-27J Spartan medium transport aircraft. During this time, the first C-27J for the force was mostly complete, having had its engines installed ahead of a provisional mid-December delivery, and underwent avionics and mission systems installation.
In preparation, the Chadian Air Force crew members and technicians underwent training ahead of the delivery of the first aircraft.
